Laundry Room Love: Project Reveal
I am so happy to be sharing our latest completed project, ‘Laundry Room Love’. While this project was being worked on, I was designing an ‘Age in Place’ home. You can read all about the laundry room in that home, here.
Having worked with this family before with their past main floor/kitchen renovation. When they asked me to assist them with this space, I was beyond thrilled. There is nothing better than being asked to come back to a home for the next phase!
BEFORE
Laundry Room|Back Entry
First of all, let’s see how this space used to look.

Wants and Wishes
When it comes to redesigning a space, it is always important to know what the wants and wishes are for the space. Before concepts were designed, I knew the following were on the ‘wish list’:
- A sink
- Hanging area for clothes
- Dedicated ironing board space
- A bench to be able to get ready to head outside
- Storage for winter/summer clothing (jackets, hats, etc.)
The concepts we came up with
When designing concepts, I always create at least 2 design options for clients, based on their wish list. I made a little video in February to show the options.
Tweaks to the design
After we looked at the two options and started to work on the third and final design, there were a couple other wants and wishes added throughout this process. One large wish was for additional shoe storage. Some fine detail, wainscotting, was added for some detail. Here is the final plan we used to create the new space.

Before
Here are a couple of before photos taken during demo.

During Demo: this door leads into the rest of the home. You can see where the closet used to be.

During demo: the corner closet.
The Reveal
What can I tell you about this new space? This laundry room|back entrance now has enough storage for coats, shoes, and outdoor wear, a dedicated laundry space, and plenty of cabinets for storage. Not to mention, the blue is such a fabulous colour!

The End Result
As always, this could not be done without a trusted team behind me. A huge shoutout to:
- Sherman Quinlan Q2 Developments
- Joshua Ferguson Lumberjack Plumbing
- Robb Lacey Jewel Electric
- Paul Geronazzo Deerfoot Flooring
- John Logullo Ground Level Floor
- Will Deng Stoned Inc.
Of course, my clients also need a little shout out as they looked after the demo and most of the prep work. Kudos to them!

What an excellent post Sheri! I love how you show people with your video the process of working with a designer and how the laundry room came together. This isn’t just any laundry room. You met all your clients needs. And if I had that gorgeous blue color in my laundry room, I’d be in there constantly just to get happy with the blue. Oh, I guess I’d do some laundry too! 😉
