Project Reveal: We’re going to make this home work!
I am so excited to be sharing this project reveal today! Our first Renovation Discovery Meeting with this family was in April of 2019. We went through the wants, wishes, and dreams, and then came up with our proposal to work with this family.
As life got extremely busy and our renovation calendar was full, we ended up starting the design process in February of 2020 and presented options for our clients. Due to the family schedule , we booked this whole home renovation to start at the beginning of June, 2020.

Before: Pain Points
When families wish to renovate, it is usually due to the home not functioning well for them. For my clients, the kitchen was a major pain point for them. The angled island, the tiered counter/eating area, and the lack of space between the island and the outer cabinets were the major pain points.
You can read about all of the changes in this blog.
On the list to change was also to get rid of the honey oak.

Updating the tile around the fireplace was a must (along with the wall colour).

The primary bathroom had a door that got in the way of using storage as well as in the way for pure function.

The primary bathroom and main bathroom also had a tub surround, dated tile, and a dated counter. Can we say ‘good bye’ banjo over the toilet?

It was our goal to make this home work for the family. While my clients looked at moving, it simply was not going to be an option. Making this home work for this growing family (with their third baby due in December) was our task.
The Reveal
If you had a chance to read the blog about our plan, then you will know there were extensive changes that were planned for this home. Both the main floor and the second story were going to be getting some love.
For this home, we also had the opportunity to plan and order a lot of the furniture mixing in some custom pieces and filling in the gaps with readily available items. I chuckle as I write this as ‘readily available‘ during Covid are two words that DO NOT go hand in hand! We just received the last bit of furniture that was ordered in June (ordered from a Canadian company thinking sourcing ‘locally’ would help).
Are you ready? Here are a few of the phots to show the great changes!

Whole Home Renovation
Although this project was slated to be completed in 7 weeks, we had to add on an additional week for the scope of work to be all completed. In addition, we waited for what seemed like forever for furniture. I’m happy to report that we are now all finished with our work. My clients are soon going to be having their third baby and I’m sure they will make many wonderful memories in their new home!

WOW! What a transformation you’ve accomplished here for your clients, Sheri. They must be thrilled! It’s so light and bright and friendly. I really love the bonus room area, and that kitchen? Fabulous shift from the old to the new!
If your client’s see this: congratulations on your decision to hire a great designer – Sheri – and Happy Holidays as you welcome your 3rd child this season into your newly renovated home.
Thank you, Leslie. I will let my clients know you have a special message for them. <3
What a tremendous difference you’ve made for this family, Sheri! That kitchen is gorgeous, and the transformation of the bathroom from the before? WOW! That you completed this nearly on the original timeline during a pandemic is nothing short of miraculous…congratulations!
Awe..thank you, Janet. Our original timeline was extended a bit (prior to us starting) to spread out the trades. Renovations are certainly not easy during Covid and we have to remain fluid with each day. I consider ourselves very lucky as none of our trades have had a positive test. We try to be as careful as we can and always consider safety first. I will admit, it’s a huge sigh of relief when we are done!
Nice transformation , Sheri!
Thank you, Terri.
What a wonderful transformation Sheri! Your clients must be thrilled!
Thank you, Linda. The Mrs. and I were chatting during final photos about what the ‘before’ pictures looked like. Hard to believe it’s the same home.
Wow you did an amazing job! Love the penny tile on the fireplace and the kitchen is stunning!!
Thank you, Christie!
That is just beautiful and I love that flooring!
Thank you so much, Mary Ann.
This is a great transformation! I love the way you outlined the pain points and how you solved them.
Thank you, Lisa.
Wow Sheri, what an amazing transformation!! You really contemporized this home so it fits their growing family. Love the penny tile around the fireplace and how you divided the family room into two sections. Fantastic kitchen remodel!! Bravo for getting this completed in the middle of a Pandemic!
Thank you, Deborah. Waiting for all of the furniture was a bit painful, but it is now all done and they can focus on bringing a little one into this world. <3
nice reno, now I am feeling bad that my downstairs bathfitter tub is dated.
Hi Mark,
Bathfitter is a great option! I’m sure it looks just fine. 🙂
You nailed it! I love penny tile and around that fireplace it’s perfect.
Great review as always!
Thank you, Kelly.
